What it costs to put your salon's name on your capes

Almost nobody in this trade publishes prices. You fill in a form, you wait for a quote, and you have no idea whether the number you get back is normal. We would rather just tell you.

The numbers

  • Capes only — $33 each, four minimum. Design a set.
  • Aprons only — $33 each, four minimum. Design a set.
  • The Signature set — four capes and two aprons for $159.99, which is about $26.67 a piece. See it.
  • The Solo Stylist set — two capes and one apron for $89.00. See it.
  • A single cape, no minimum — $35, with a matching apron at $25 if you want one. Here.
  • Your own logo — a one-time $10 digitizing fee per logo, not per garment, on a minimum of four garments. Upload it here.

Shipping is $10 flat and free once an order passes $75, which every set above clears.

Why the sets are cheaper per piece

Because the expensive part of embroidery is not the stitching, it is the setup. Hooping, threading the colours, running a test — that cost is the same whether we stitch one cape or six. Spread across six pieces it almost disappears, which is why the Signature set lands at $26.67 a piece and a single cape is $35.

It is also why there is a minimum on the set pages and none on the single cape. Different products, priced honestly for what they are.

How many do you actually need

Two to three capes per chair is what most of the salons we work with settle on. That keeps a clean cape on every chair while the rest are in the wash, and nobody gets caught short on a Saturday. If you do a lot of colour, lean towards three and rotate them — rotating is what makes the fabric last.

So a three-chair salon is usually looking at six to nine capes and two or three aprons. A booth renter with one chair usually wants two capes and an apron, which is exactly why the Solo Stylist set exists.

What you get for it

Real satin-stitch embroidery, not a print. Bleach and chemical resistant fabric that we tested ourselves. Up to three lines of lettering, each line with its own font and thread colour, from fifteen colours on the machine. A photo-real mockup emailed within 24 hours, and 48 hours to change anything about it for free.

And it is stitched in Wylie, Texas by two people, not routed through a print-on-demand account. If something is wrong you get one of us on the phone.

Cheaper options exist

They do, and they are usually printed, usually overseas, and usually a two to three week wait with no mockup. If the lowest possible number is what matters most, take it — no hard feelings. If you want to know what happens to a printed cape after a year, we wrote that up too.
